The Turkish bass baritone Yavuz Arman Isleker, began his music life at the Mimar Sinan University Istanbul/Turkey. He started to work with Nursel Öncül as vocal coach, and continued with Bass Bariton Suat Arıkan, who was the director of the İstanbul opera house. Meanwhile, he had stage and acting lessons from Prof. Yekta Kara, who is the general art director/stage manager of the Istanbul Opera/Ballet.
Under the guidance of these teachers, he performed Bartolo (Le Nozze Di Figaro), Don Alfonso (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Fallstaff (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor) in 2004 - 2005.
Arman won the second prize in the International Singing Competition for young Virtuosos in Sofia in 2005. In 2007 he obtained the first prize of the Siemens Singing Competition, which was a scholarship at the Badisches State Theatre Opera Studio in Karlsruhe, Germany. There, he worked with Prof. Roland Hermann (2007/2008).
Since he moved from Turkey to the Netherlands in September 2009 to continue his musical studies, he has made strong connections with musical luminaries such as Kenneth Montgomery, Laurence Dale, Alexander Oliver, Peter Nilsson and Paul Carr.
Between 2009 - 2011 Arman obtained to work in the Dutch National Opera Academy and completed his master program at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
As a soloist, Arman enjoyed performing in some prestigious venues, including the Concertgebouw.
Working with Alexander Oliver, he performed Superintendent Budd (Albert Herring) for the Dutch National Opera Academy. With the same company he played in Clemenza di Tito as Publio, les Mamelles des Trisias as Presto, and in L’Elisir d’Amore as Dulcamara having the opportunity to work with conductor Kenneth Montgomery.
After he completed his master program, he performed Fabrizio (La Pitradel Paragone, directed by Laurence Dale), which was a project of Opera Trionfo. And he sang Morales in Carmen directed by Floris Visser in de Delftsche Opera.
Since 2013 Arman is one of the resident artists at de Nederlandse Reisopera. In January 2013 he sang as Colline in La Bohème with de Nederlandse Reisopera, and also in Sadler’s Wells Theatre (London) and at the Dorset Opera Festival in July 2013. In 2014 he played Sir Lancelot in Being Arthur, followed by Nourabad in Les Pecheurs de Perles. In 2015 he sang the role of Balthasar in Amahl and the night visitors.
In the first quarter of 2016 Arman was performing as Colline (LA Bohème) again with de Bang-up Opera in Belgium, and Il Re (Aïda) with het Velser opera gezelschap Bel Canto. September-October 2016 he played as der Perückenmacher/Lakai in Ariadne auf Naxos with de Nederlandse Reisopera.
In 2017 he performed as refugee Amar in Fortress Europe with the Dutch National Opera and Opera Trionfo (stage director: Floris Visser, composer: Calliope Tsoupaki). In 2018 Arman was be on stage as Comédien New King and Polonius, as well as off stage singing as Spectre in Hamlet, a production of Opera2day.
